Dorn on Flickr<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Sunday, October 17th, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teaparty365.org\/new-york-city-tell-the-truth-rally-sunday-10-17-2010-at-200-pm\" target=\"_blank\">TeaParty365 will host a rally<\/a> in Manhattan focused on demanding mainstream media start reporting only accurate information.\u00a0 The rally begins at the home of the NY Times at 2pm, and then will head to the Fox News Studios.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I suppose in the spirit of the rally it should be more accurately reported that they will only pass by Fox on their way to their second destination, NBC&#8217;s 30-Rock, where they will protest MS-NBC.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s a shame they won&#8217;t stop.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the rally is only aimed at liberal media.\u00a0 The rally&#8217;s mission says it will, &#8220;Send a message to these liberal media icons that you\u2019ve had enough of their left-wing bias.&#8221;\u00a0 The core premise is noble.\u00a0 The news could use a lot less bias, but that should apply to both sides.\u00a0 No one&#8217;s going to argue The Times and MS-NBC don&#8217;t lean left, but Fox leans just as clearly in the other direction.<\/p>\n<p>Bias aside, the focus seems more on accuracy.\u00a0 The rally is featuring the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrc.org\/public\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Media Research Center<\/a> whose website prominently features a large graphic bumper sticker saying, &#8220;Demand the media tell the truth!&#8221;\u00a0 However, their more benign sounding mission as &#8220;America&#8217;s Media Watchdog,&#8221; is to bring balance to the news media.\u00a0 They assert that leaders of America&#8217;s conservative movement have long believed that  within the national news media a strident liberal bias existed that  influenced the public&#8217;s understanding of critical issues.\u00a0 This contrasts nicely with <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/p\/about_us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Media Matters<\/a>, a progressive research and  information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing,  and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.\u00a0 They should be two sides of the coin\u2014a balanced yin and yang, and in this sense they are.\u00a0 Yet looking at the respective websites yields very different experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The MRC is positioning for conflict, and it wants you to join.\u00a0 In addition to the demanding bumper sticker mentioned above, the site urges you to &#8220;Join the fight against liberal bias.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The leading stories on the sight today bear the following headlines:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrc.org\/biasalert\/2010\/20101014012736.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Today Show Highlights Christine O&#8217;Donnell &#8216;Struggling&#8217; in Debate, Ignores Chris Coons Fumble<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrc.org\/press\/releases\/2010\/20101014113803.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Tea Party Protesters Host Brent Bozell and Demand the Media &#8220;Tell The Truth!&#8221; in NYC This Sunday<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrc.org\/biasalert\/2010\/20101015084313.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">ABC and CBS Exploit Senate Race They Obsess Over to Regurgitate Ridicule for Palin<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eyeblast.tv\/public\/checker.aspx?v=hdSUpr8z6U\" target=\"_blank\">Video: MRC&#8217;s Bozell Goes After Media Swipes at Tea Party &#8216;Anger&#8217;<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cultureandmedia.com\/articles\/2010\/20101014132249.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">&#8216;View&#8217; Hosts Walk Out on O&#8217;Reilly During Heated Mosque Debate<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrc.org\/press\/releases\/2010\/20101014102536.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Brent Bozell Presents the 2010 William F.
