{"id":1683,"date":"2010-03-30T07:54:56","date_gmt":"2010-03-30T11:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nicholsclan.com\/tinblog\/?p=1683"},"modified":"2010-03-29T16:12:13","modified_gmt":"2010-03-29T20:12:13","slug":"better-in-heels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/2010\/03\/better-in-heels.html","title":{"rendered":"Better in Heels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.buycostumes.com\/Ring-Girl-Guy-Adult-Costume\/21997\/ProductDetail.aspx\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Ring Girl\" src=\"http:\/\/images.buycostumes.com\/mgen\/merchandiser\/21997.jpg\" alt=\"Ring Girl\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>This past weekend found me at yet another swim meet, and like many of them, this one was staffed with parent volunteers.\u00a0 I was assigned to the Clerk-of-Course, which usually means you get to wrangle the little kids into some organization so they show up to the blocks when they are supposed to swim such that the meet runs smoothly.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival I was handed a small whiteboard and a marker.\u00a0 My job was to announce what events were now being seated so kids and coaches could get the little ones headed to the corral for pre-event organization.\u00a0 This was to be accomplished by writing the event number on the board, and then parading up and down in front of the stands with the board held high.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t very long before the heckling started.\u00a0 One of the coaches compared me to the boxing ring girls that announce the rounds at a fight&#8230; and noted that I should really think about high heels for next time.\u00a0 Over the next hour, there were several calls of &#8220;Hey Vanna!&#8221;\u00a0 and remarks from other coaches and parents about how I might think about a better outfit next time, maybe one with more rhinestones.\u00a0 Eventually, even some of the older swimmers from our team started piling on.<\/p>\n<p>It was all in good fun, and it did make the time pass a little more quickly.\u00a0 Still, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buycostumes.com\/Ring-Girl-Guy-Adult-Costume\/21997\/ProductDetail.aspx\">I ran across this costume<\/a> that I may have to get just in case I ever get saddled with that job again.\u00a0 After all, embarrassing my teenage children is well within my job description at this point.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past weekend found me at yet another swim meet, and like many of them, this one was staffed with<\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\"><a href=\"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/2010\/03\/better-in-heels.html\" title=\"Read Better in Heels\">Read more &raquo;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1683","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-justforfun","category-sliceoflife"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1683","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1683"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1683\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1686,"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1683\/revisions\/1686"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1683"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1683"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/timscogitorium.com\/tinblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1683"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
