I’ve run across a very funny series of short films called Mr. Deity. They’ve been out there awhile as they are now in Season 3, so they’re more new to me than new. Nonetheless, they have a delightfully irreverent take on God as everyman. In some ways, it’s kind of like Heaven meets Mt. Olympus in that the Greeks imagined their gods with human desires and weaknesses. This series rather supposes the Christian god in that mold. You’ll meet Larry, Mr. Deity’s personal assistant, Lucy, the woman who runs the underworld yet still seems to be Mr. Deity’s love interest in the series, and Jesse, Lucy and Mr. Deity’s only begotten son as they wrestle with the details of creation, the publication of the bibles, and other mysteries of faith.
